Hi, my name is Tara Boyd. That's my 7-year-old son pictured at the top sitting at a table eating waffles with a fork on a regular plate. I have been a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for 20 years, and have never worked with a client who was as challenging for me as my son, especially when it comes to mealtimes. Not long ago, he was not eating like other kids. After about age 2, he progressively became less and less interested in food. At his worst, he would go entire days without eating anything. It affected his behavior, learning, and ability to participate in social activities involving food. I was stressed and exhausted most of the time. For the last 5 years, I have worked tirelessly to get him to the point where I could take a picture like that. Finally, he sits down at a table at mealtime and eats just like everyone else at home and school.
According to Feeding Matters, an organization dedicated to Pediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD), there are millions of children who have significant issues with mealtimes. In fact, more than 1 in 37 children under 5 have PFD. Maybe your child's issue is not a feeding disorder, per se. Maybe your child is simply a "picky eater." Either way, restrictive diets and food avoidance impact your child's overall health and can be stressful for the whole family.
If you're like 99% of parents with a "picky eater", you probably dread mealtimes. You would do anything to get this kid to eat, but it seems like no matter what you do, it just doesn't happen. Your child does not sit down and eat like other kids.
You might even have resigned yourself to just making the same food over and over even though you know it's not that healthy...
Well, I'm here to help! I don't have all the answers, but as a professional and mother who has walked in your shoes, I have some words of wisdom to share. While there are no quick fixes to get your child to eat "normally" overnight, there is a lot you can do to make things better every day. I want to teach you how you can make simple modifications that really work with very little effort.
You don't need to be a professional because I've boiled down the very best of my 20+ years of professional therapy expertise and 7+ years of "mom-ing ."
If you were to buy a book with straight-forward advice for "picky eaters" by a mother and expert, it would probably be 4 times the time commitment to read it with a bunch of information you don't really need to make changes now. It would also likely cost 2 to 3 times as much as what I am offering. You don't need to waste money on a book that is going to sit on the shelf because you have no time to read it. The Picky Eater Help Guide is only 12 pages long and cuts to the chase. I have used all of the strategies myself with my clients and my own child with great success. You can take action now with very little time and money investment. PLUS, I've also added a BONUS audio version so you can listen to it on your phone or computer while you are multi-tasking! You really have nothing to lose by trying it out!
I am going to teach you how to change up the food you already have in your refrigerator so that your child is more likely to eat it!
